The Dupont Mountain Biking Trails in Brevard, North Carolina, offer some of the hottest biking and camping spots for those enthusiasts. The outstanding trails have challenging singletrack, easy doubletrack, steep Slickrock, dirt descents, and are topped off with more than 200 gorgeous waterfalls.
Dupont State Forest
This is a vast area with approximately 80 to 100 miles of excellent mountain bike trails having difficulty levels from beginner to intermediate as well as those incredible waterfalls and scenery. Located in the Blue Ridge Mountains southeast of Brevard, this 10,400-acre Dupont State Recreational Forest provides an experience not normally found in the southern Appalachians: Slickrock! Resembling Moab, Utah’s famous trails, riders travel over large solid granite domes. However, unlike Moab, here connecting trails go through dense forests to spectacular waterfalls.
Trifecta of Triple Falls, High Falls, and Hooker Falls
They can be accessed easily in just one outing from the parking lot for Hooker Falls. Starting towards Triple Falls, it is only about a mile and a seven-minute walk upstream before you will see the three-tiered falls. Be careful because the main trail is steep when you approach the falls. Continue on the old roadbed 3/4 mile and you’ll reach the bottom of the 150-foot cascade of High Falls. Make the return trip going back the way you came, and when you pass Triple Falls again, at the bottom of the hill, locate the trail to the right and follow the river along the rocks. When you cross the bridge that is leading to the parking lot, take a left and wander the less than 1/2 mile with a six-minute walk to Hooker Falls, which drops off an ll-foot ledge into Cascade Lake and has an observation deck.
Wintergreen Falls
You may also want to check out many of the other waterfalls including this 20-foot cascade on the Grassy Creek on the Henderson County side, spilling down an inclined slab close to the High Falls Covered Bridge.
LAND OF WATERFALLS RV PARK
When you are enjoying the Dupont Mountain Biking Trails and are looking for a place to stay, this RV park is well-recommended. There are four full-service rental RV sites located a short nine-mile 12-minute drive away from the DuPont State Forest Visitor Center and from numerous attractions in nearby Brevard, Asheville, and Hendersonville.
Some of the RV Park’s specifications are the following:
• The ticket price includes two adults in one vehicle per each RV site. If there are more than 2 individuals, you pay an extra $15 per vehicle. You will also need an extra parking spot because two vehicles cannot be parked in one space.
• When driving through the park, the maximum speed is five mph.
• 11:00 PM to 7:00 AM are quiet hours when you have to maintain silence and cannot play music or make noise during those hours.
• You can take your pet but have to keep it inside. If you take it out, it has to be on a leash and cleaned up after.
Conclusion
Enjoy the exciting and refreshing outdoor recreational activity and adventures of mountain biking.
